Rom 5:1 Put on peace

Push aside anxiety; Put on peace.
Rom 5:1 KJV Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Peace is a possession of those that truly believe, but it is not always manifest either to ourselves or to others.
Col 3:9-10 KJV  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;  (10)  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Initial reception of the peace of God is part of conversion, part of being born again.  Conversion is similar to taking off an old garment and putting on a new one.
Eph 4:22-24 KJV  That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  (23)  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  (24)  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Despite the identical translation, the Greek words for "put off" are different in the Colossians and Ephesians passages.  Here it means "push aside", not "take off".  We have taken off old man, crucified him actually (Romans 6.6).  It is only now necessary to brush aside the bad memories and habits that he left behind.  Putting on the new man is a renewal of the commitment made at conversion. It is affirming that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.  It is a doing of the "first works" (Rev 2.5). It fully reconnects the believer to the benefits of his irrevocable calling.in Christ Jesus.  It enables his walking in pre-ordained good works (Eph 2.10).  Truly good works are those that take place when we are serving in our spirit (Rom 1.9), living fully in Christ Jesus (Rom 8.2).
Eph 6:11 KJV  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Rom 13:12 KJV  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Rom 13:14 KJV  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
The above three verses deepen our understanding of putting on the "new man".  However, the putting on begins with the inner experience of that peace with God which is our permanent possession in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7 KJV  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  (7)  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Push aside anxiety.  Put on peace.  The prior passages deepen our understanding.  Philippians presents specifics.
Act 4:31-32 KJV  And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.  (32)  And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
The peace of God is particularly manifest in the assembly of the born again.  Our prayer effectively unites our spirits with His spirit. Heart and soul follow.
