It can't be easy making small talk with hundreds of sharp-elbowed New Yorkers all hoping to tell at dinner parties about their meeting with their new best, most royal friends. But the newlyweds seemed serenely at ease, as if they were really enjoying the chitchat.
Matthew Modine, who arrived around the same time as the pair, was taken aback when Prince Charles turned to him and said, 'Hello, Matthew!' 'I was completely flabbergasted,' said the actor.
When I finally got to meet the prince, he raised his eyebrows when he learned I wrote for The Post and asked how we were able to fill the Page Six column every day. 'It would be easier if you would visit more often,' I told him. He laughed and continued down the line.

But the prince and his wife seemed pleased amid the crowd.
